▪In this talk, Belgian collector and financer Alain Servais I will explain why art is one of the worst possible investment assets. Yet, supporting and collecting art is an enriching passion and a service to the community.

Alain Servais (Belgium) is one of the most thoughtful, outspoken, challenging, and inspiring art collectors in the international contemporary art field.
His over-two-decades Servais Family Collection focuses on underrepresented and museum-quality art he thinks is significant and worthy of preservation, supporting artists who raise difficult questions about materiality, corporeality, violence, racism, and death.
Coming from an investment banking background, with a strong interest in video art and new media, Alain operates his Collection on an 1800-square-meter industrial space known as The Loft since 2000, showcasing an annual curated exhibition, and runs an artist residency in Schaerbeek, home to a diverse population of immigrants in Brussels, Belgium.
